The dental device or often called braces is a medical device aimed at correctly aligning the teeth and enlarging the palate.
The apparatus for the teeth is one of those therapies that we would all like to avoid, because unattractive as well as inconvenient to wear, but when it is prescribed it means that there is a defect to be corrected before it is too late.
The health of teeth is very important because many serious diseases are linked to it, such as diabetes and stroke, which we rarely associate with this case.
This is not to scare or make any false reaction to you, not at all, but it is important to make you understand that dentistry is not just about oral hygiene and the health of your teeth, which is why it should not be underestimated. If your trusted dentist has prescribed of wearing braces to you or a member of your family, perhaps you should follow his instructions slavishly.
What is a Dental Appliance?
The dental device – more correctly called an orthodontic appliance – is a medical device aimed at correctly aligning the teeth and enlarging the palate.
Employed, with the necessary technological, medical and scientific evolutions of the case, since ancient times, the dental braces are prescribed by dentists where the patient has not aligned teeth or severe deformations, such as to irreversibly compromise chewing, often during the teenage years.
This is the time when most of the child has not properly maintained their teeth and needs to get it to fix. This is the right age of wearing braces.
In addition to healing purposes, teeth braces cost can also improve the aesthetics of the smile, which is very important in social relationships, and even more in particular professional areas.
Dental Device: Not just for children:
- In the collective imagination, the dental braces are associated with treatments for children and adolescents, almost as if it were not possible to use it in adulthood.
- As you can imagine, it’s not like that at all. Although used in the vast majority of cases in the youngest, the braces can also be worn by adults, provided they accept to undergo this therapy.
- In fact, for a growing child, bringing the device is undoubtedly a potentially discriminating element in one’s social universe, but it is back to normal.
- For an adult, the side effects of a dental device, such as difficulty in speaking, a metallic smile, chewing and oral hygiene, often represent insurmountable limits, which lead them to refuse treatment.
Fortunately, today it is possible to opt for less invasive solutions, such as the invisible dental device, which we will discuss later.
Types of braces:
Dental appliances are divided into two macro-categories, which in turn are divided into different types of braces and models.
The two macro-categories are as follows:
- Fixed orthodontic appliances
- Mobile orthodontic appliances
The fixed dental appliance is the one that, as the term itself indicates, cannot be removed by the patient once inserted by the dentist. The fixed appliance is hooked to the teeth using plates, one for each tooth, connected with metal wires.
This solution is perhaps the most effective, capable of achieving results in less time, but it is also inconvenient. The lingual braces cause, in the immediate, difficulty in the speech – it is not possible to speak correctly – and in chewing, in addition to making the cleaning of the teeth more difficult. To all this, we must add the aesthetic component, heavily compromised.
The exposed metal plates and wires make the smile much less effective, which is why over the years braces cost in India have been introduced, such as for ceramic, which is closer to the natural color of the teeth.
Mobile teeth braces:
The mobile device or removable braces allows removal by the patient, for example during meals or at night. Used to correct malocclusions or incorrect habits, especially in pre-adolescent age, mobile devices allow better management of oral hygiene and have less invasive effects from a social point of view.
As you can imagine, however, their functioning is directly linked to the patient’s behavior, which could exploit the mobility of the device/removable braces to wear it less than recommended.
