#1. Gruene Historic District
Texas has a rich history. You can find the perfect Texas historical district in the small town of New Braunfels. A short drive from San Antonio, New Braunfels is home to the mesmerizing Gruene Historic District. You can plan a lunch at the Grist Mill Restaurant, located at the edge of Guadalupe River.
It would be a waste if you didn’t catch a performance in the historic Gruene Hall. It is the oldest dance hall in the state, which is still operational. There are performances every night. Including some of the biggest country artists. And remember to stop by the General Store. It is one of the most authentic historical experiences you can imagine.
#2. Houston’s Museum District
Texas is not all about farmlands and big trucks. It is also home to some of the finest pieces of art and culture. Downtown Huston hosts one of the leading art districts in the state. Make sure you visit only if you have the time. Because you can easily spend an entire day roaming the 19 museums in the district.
The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston has some of the most coveted pieces in the country. And the Houston Museum of Natural Science enjoys the most visitors in the district. The best thing is that most of the museums in the district are just walking distance away from each other.
#3. Natural Bridge Caverns
Another short drive away from San Antonio is the Natural Bridge Caverns. The entranceway has an enormous 60-foot limestone bridge. The bridge is considered as the inspiration for the name given to the caverns. The Natural Bridge Caverns are part of a vast underground network. This natural network links more than 10,000 different stalactite formations.
While there, you can take a themed tour, which will also take you to the 40-foot high King’s Throne. One of the highlights of the caverns. You can also enjoy the other fun activities at the sight, like the treetop climbing adventure track. It includes zip lines and a network of ropeways and platforms.
#4. Cadillac Ranch
Cadillacs are the unspoken official cars of Texans throughout history. The Cadillac Ranch in Amarillo is one of the best tourist attractions in West Texas. It is one of the most iconic sites, and the best thing about it is that it is constantly changing. Think of it as a living artwork.
The site has several Cadillacs which have been placed nose-first into the ground. The idea is that you visit and leave a part of yourself at the ranch. In the form of artwork that you can spray paint in the cars. You can even take a piece of the art with you, in the form of jewelry. It is available for sale by vendors outside the ranch.

The USS Lexington is one of the largest surviving vessels that served in the in WW II. It has since been converted into a Naval Museum and is stationed off the shore in Corpus Christi. The aircraft carrier still displays a large collection of vintage aircrafts.
The crew quarters and bridge are open to visitors. But if you have the time, it is suggested that you take the full 4-hour tour. That will take you all the way down to the heart of the vessel. The experience is complete with a 3D movie which is shot from the captain’s view. And you can also try your sea legs with the advanced simulators and games.

Just a 30-minute drive from the center of Houston is the Space Center. And you can expect to take at least half a day to explore it. The Space Center Houston if the best place to learn all there is to know about space exploration. Not only that, but it is also home to the Johnson Space Center and Mission Control. You can even learn about Nasa’s newest projects and upcoming missions. If you are lucky, you can even meet an astronaut.
